The Indian National Platform for Evidence-Based Validation and Benchmarking of Health AI

A coordinated, transparent system to evaluate and certify health AI models in India.

ABOUT

AI is transforming healthcare in India, yet many models are used without oversight or contextual validation. prAImaan — from pramaan, meaning "proof" — builds a trusted national framework for transparent, participatory, and evidence-based evaluation.

prAImaan transforms model testing into a living feedback loop linking developers, clinicians, and regulators.

The Need

THE NEED

Oversight Matters

AI tools are rapidly entering India’s health system, often without regulation or transparent validation. Models built by companies, researchers, and open communities are already influencing clinical decisions. In a country as diverse as India, accuracy alone is not enough — models must be tested for contextual relevance and equity. Without a coordinated national framework, unvalidated AI risks misinforming care, deepening disparities, and compromising patient safety.

PRAIMAAN'S MISSION

Ensuring that every health AI model in India is safe, equitable, and contextually relevant through transparent, participatory evaluation.

prAImaan’s six core objectives establish a trusted system for health AI in India — one that scientifically validates models, ensures contextual adaptation, embeds ethical governance, and drives continuous real-world improvement.

Governance Framework

Establish a nationally coordinated yet state-inclusive authority to oversee health-AI validation across India.

Technical Facilitation Unit

Operate the MOOVE platform for secure model submission, automated testing, and expert review.

Evaluation Standards

Define technical, ethical, and contextual benchmarks across languages, specialties, and care levels.

Benchmarking (valiDATAthons)

Conduct multilingual, clinician-led benchmarking campaigns (valiDATAthons) to assess safety and relevance.

AI Landscape Mapping

Continuously map emerging AI models, datasets, and infrastructure to guide national planning and oversight.

Real-World Implementation

Enable clinical pilots and continuous monitoring to ensure safe, evidence-based AI deployment.

THE VISION

A future where AI tools are continuously validated, co-owned by practitioners, and trusted by the public.
